Located in the northern New York town of Parishville Inlay Design Studio is the creative energy and building skills of Tracy Cox. It all began when Tracy took his artistic talents to the shop of master inlay artist and luthier David Nichols. This is when he began his journey toward combining his passion for art with his love of the guitar. The first classes and the guidance offered by David would eventually lead to the C.F. Martin & Co. Custom Shop. As the inlay artist for Martin’s Custom Shop Tracy continued to create beautiful inlay on some of the most beautiful guitars available today.
While working in the Martin factory and being able to see first hand the tradition and hand crafted excellence that went into the creation of a Martin guitar, Tracy would realize that there was an opportunity to learn and build his own instruments.
Eventually all of this would lead back to David Nichols where he would continue to build guitars as a canvas for his unique inlay art. Today Tracy continues to do inlay for various guitar manufacturers and create some of the most beautiful and imaginative inlay for private commissions as well as his own creative custom guitars.
